My Walks of Life

the sky does not always blue..so does the life..

Thumbs up to Abir

My son Abir is `Isomil-free` since 18th October 2007 at his 4 years and 11 months old.. I must count this as one of his achievement:) His started taking less milk on Raya days. And eventually, he just stopped asking for milk. At first, he was like having few mood swings, in attempt to free his mind to ask for milk, I suppose. Later, he`s said` Otak abir ni asyik nak susu, susu susu aje, ummi.." I replied, "Tak ape, abir cakap kat otak abir, yg susu isomil tak sedap, minum susu Marigold aje..lagi best!ok?" So., he seems satisfied with my answer.

Now, we`re replacing his calcium with increasing his food nutrition calorie and dairy sources. He`s good at eating, anyway..so we`re not worry. One will always say a non-breastfed baby is choosy in eating, right? But, Abir is not. Perhaps, since he is 4 months.., I`ve tried all sort of baby`s food recipe to indulge his appetite. My sister in law, Kak Cho inspires me in preparing baby`s food:) And I`m not a bit loss.

So, we `ve bought a new bike for him , to reward his victory. We consider it as an advanced bithday gift.

The difference which crossed to my notice since he is wean off the milk that is he is begin to utter the words more soundly, which means less lisping.

My husband said...well what we`re going to do with his Isomil budget that cost us RM200 per month now? Well.. I just grinn :D

The Other Half`

Introducing my `the other half`s siblings & family:)

My husband is the 3rd out of 9. As compared to me, 3rd of the four. Previous Hari Raya was like a re-union for the 9 siblings in the family. Everyone were there, except Kak Linda who celebrate the eve at Serdang.

Baju Raya Theme

2001
we`ve got married 8th of Syawal. So, it was an outfit in Vanished Silver.

2002

I was in confinement. Not really into Raya mood. Anyway, mom got me a embroidered blue baju kurung, same with abang`s baju Melayu.

2003
Delighted as Abir is 1 year old. We dressed in pale yellow :). Had a >12 hours journey to Kulim from JB:( (imagine the traffic)

2004
I`m carrying Aufa , 6 months in womb. Still, we manage to set in a Light Purple theme:). Raya in Sitiawan.

2005
So excited, since Aufa is already 8 months old.I fitted her with acute baju kurung too same fabric with mine. We were in yellowish green outfit. Raya in Kulim.

2006
It was Raya in Sitiawan. I chose apple green 2 layered jubah for Aufa & me. So the guys in family were also in green.

2007 (this year!)
The 1st day of raya was in Kulim. Abang decided a dark purple marroonish colour as this year theme. I sew sparkling beads floral on my baju kurung. Mom sew Aufa`s:)

Mama & Festive Bakery

She`s been baking festive cookies as long as I can remember, that should be around I was 4 years old. But, she the fact is..mama said, she baked as young as she was 8 years old.
Mama was a primary teacher with 10 NGOs + 1 political party. That`s enough to describe how`s busy her days were. Still, she manage to baked thousand of cookies. Her cookies were ordered from her school-colleagues, relatives & NGOs friends. Her cookies order were not only during Raya festives, but also for other festivals as well. Her no 1 and evergreen cookie is the pineapple roll tart. The taste is unbeatable. She made the jam herself, instead of buying.
I still remember Ancho, Angah and I were merely helping greasing & garnishing the cookies. Our tiny fingers would sometimes sneak out several cookies to the mouth, yet claimed still fasting:) Farah was not so interested helping though. She said, she couldn`t stand the smell of butter in our our kitchen, and it was like a bakery factory, with lots of cookies on the shelves. At one time, after several years I was about to lose enthusiast as well, feeling the aura to throw up at everytime seeing those bunch of cookies. Later, I enjoy it untill now.Amazingly, although mama baked most of the time during Ramadhan (especially), she manage to khatam Al-Quran, perform tarawikh and attending her NGOs activities:)
Until today, although she had retired teaching, she`s more busy with NGOs and keep on baking. The secret of her delicious cookies? She bakes for joy.Not for bussiness. She uses all the quality ingredients ,no matter what -eventhough the butter and flour`s price is increasing. She has never calculate how much she spent and how much she earn from her cookies selling. What else can I say?...she`s one superb mom!
