Our life have changed since we got our first child, Abir 5 years ago. Especially in the financial planning . Although that time, our combine nett income was only around 4k per month. Later, Hubby and me agreed that our children is our priority in each decision we`re going to make days onwars. So, no matter what it is –the children `s need is always an urgent agenda. Their needs that we prioritized are :
1)Comfort
2)Health
3)Education
4)Entertainment
5)Security
So, we don`t think twice whenever those need is concerned. A cosy place. A maid to take care of their needs at home when we`re away. Who can ensure the house is clean and whom has been taught how to prepare healthy food for kids.Eat routinely.(Thanks Allah, I have a tip-top maid). Not only that, one of the reason I `m still with Health Ministry is that, so my kids will have free medication and treatment. On top of that, we`ve try to supply the kids with `you name it` supplement proposed eg. Scott emulsion, ribena, examo and efalex. The most crucial is education and learning. For instance, Abir had enrolled several programmes ie Lil Mozart (basic piano), Art lane (craft & art), Taekwondo, Swimming, Kumon and now Adni Islamic School. Talking about Adni Islamic School, yes, it is beyond our budget (The registration fee is double my Msc. fee per semester, and the monthly fee is equal to an intallment of Satria!). Nevertheless, we over-rule the budget. We wanted him to get the most of what Adni can offer for a soleh & musleh kid (My SIL shall nod her head, agreeing..).
Yes, it does acquire lots of Ringgit to fulfill those whilst we don`t have enormous saving. Anyway, in our mission to provide the best to the kids, we have to put aside any personal constraints especially a wish like a debt-free life. Well, we see it this way..what`s crucial to the kids CURRENTLY? Its education and and a joyous life. There are 2 situations to take care of: First is "What you should provide the kids today for their life today?" and Second is "What you should prepare the kids today for their tomorrow life?"
So, we will fulfill whatever their needs today. For the tomorrows, then only the saving (education is their tomorrow life too!) comes into the picture. We opt for forced-saving, not much though!(auto debit from our sallary account to the kids account +TH, on the 1st day of the sallary is out). We are not frugal. We spend to the fullest for kids, education, leisure, infaq, and parent- without thinking to maximize saving. End of the month.. whatever is left, then goes again to saving. For the tomorrow years also, we had multiple insurance scheme namely T. Ikhlas, T. Malaysia, Great Eastern & Prudential Takafulink.
“Our financial freedom definition is completely different! It is when we can offer our kids the best to them without worrying how much our balance left in the saving..:)”
Our 1 cent opinion...
