My Walks of Life

the sky does not always blue..so does the life..

main pasir

Once upon a time..somewhere in October 2008. It was a sunny day i`d remembered. Sizzling hot. It was RN* integrated 2008 recreation day : paintball & tug of war. Despite the hot weather, we were there for moral support.

Dad : at the field, on full swing. team masuk quater final in paint ball. tug of war? awal2 dah kuar list.(sume kurus2).

Mom : Baby-sitting kiddies (mula2 kita cheer Abi.., haa..jenuh dah? tak larat dah. panas? jom lepak kat gazebo sana, main aci2, hide & seek, police entry.Last activity : Main pasir nak?)

Kids : Main pasir- free style (bukan senang nak dpt main mcm ni, sorry la kalau Abi yg babysit kita, sure tak dpt gini..)

1 month

She hits 1 month old already la today. Means what? I have another 14 days to end this confinement.yoohooo!!

As Mumtaz is 1 month today, here is the milestone checklist i`ve received in the mailbox :

Milestones - your Baby's progress report

At the end of the first month, your baby would have accomplished even more.

Baby's memory is growing:
Your baby is beginning to store memories and is able to form associations between certain events and its consequences. When given a clue, you can expect a reaction. For example when shown the bottle baby shows excitement because he knows his meal is on the way. More of such associations are made, as baby grows older. (when she sees me..she`ll definitely excited)

She is smiling more now:
By now she smiles when you smile at her. She may even smile on her own and produce different noises like gurgles, grunts and hums as an expression of emotions. Your baby may attempt at imitating your exaggerated facial expressions. (yes she does!)She still enjoys looking at her own face in the mirror you placed on her crib. (we have to try this)

Physical control increases:
He is able to lift his head up at 45 degrees. (yep!noticed this at her 15th days old) When held in a sitting position, baby can keep head up most of the time although in a wobbly manner. His eyes will follow you when you move away from him. He likes bright colors. He may turn his head in the direction of his favorite sound.

Increased activity :
When on his back, he may make cycling motions with his legs. When sitting baby may circle his arms above his head. When on his tummy he may rock back and forth with his arms and legs stretched out and back arched. (yes, all the time, aufa tya "kenapa tangan dia tak berenti gerak?")

Fascination with own hands:
She may examine her hands closely now that she has discovered them. She will most likely bring them to her face and touch parts of her face. She will suck toys or own fingers. Sucking fingers creates double sensation, in both fingers and mouth. Through sucking she is beginning to realize what is a part of her and what is not e.g. her fingers are a part of her and the toy is not. She will also open and close her hand, bring them together, wave them around. She may hold a toy for a while if you put it in her hand. (so, its time to removed those mittens, caution..nails keep short!)

Uses mouth to explore:
Your baby may now begin to explore the environment by putting many objects in mouth including your hands and her hands, her toys, pillow edges, and everything else she can lay her hands on. This is not out of hunger, but curiosity. All her senses are at work - touch, smell, and taste - to help her make sense of her world. (belum berani cuba, but kids suka put their finger inside her mouth..enjoying the sucking reflex)

Establishing bedtime routines:
Now is a good time to introduce bedtime ritual since his physical development is stabilizing somewhat. It's a good time to teach baby to go to sleep at a certain hour every night. Include bathing, dressing into nightclothes, feeding and lullabies in his daily ritual. (i am doing it now..tugged in at 10pm, fell asleep at 11pm..she wakes for milk at 1am, 3 am, and 5am.)

how quick are u

Don`t fix your monitor..

the video is actually captured upside down.recorded by an amateur mom myself who is bored at home.dah tungku, dah cuci pinggan, dah mandi baby & aufa, dah kemas bilik, dah masak, dah makan, dah suap aufa makan, dah sidai kain, dah lipat kain, baby dah tido 2x.tapi, maknye tak boleh tidor? another pantang mama told: jangan tido sebelum zohor.nanti sembab muka. i don`t know where`s the connection between sembab and tido sblm zohr. but 1 thing i know surely is the prophet muhammad pbuh said those who sleep after asr 40 times will go insane. and in the contrary, sleep between zohr and asr, is a good deed which in fact termed as qailulah. provided you do qiamullail la eh.

well, anyway ..look how difficult is their life now since they arrived at our house 3months ago. miserable to be exact. exhausted to be detailed. letih dia asyik kena lari je kat wheel tu. few days after arrival at home, we thought "wow..the hamsters are happy..they run on the wheel all the time, especially when abir & aufa is nearby. faster when the kids in level 3 came up. hehe..". after a while, i got what are they trying to tell us : please, get rid of the kids..or take us away from them! lets run!!" the two hamsters hasn`t have offspring yet. they should have any by now.they are a couple, you see. the gestation period is only 2-3 months, according to the petshop man.so by right its time to deliver baby hamsters.why they didn`t? maybe because the kids are always intefering their privacy time, i suppose. or maybe the pet shop mistakenly select both male.or maybe both are female then. hmm, but we notice one of them is having a bloated belly after a week we purchased it. is bloated is a sign of pregnancy?hmm..yes in my case.got to google it out on pregnancies in hamsters.hey, what is the fuss all about?nothing.being a bored mom, remember? well, it is just the kids. they keep on asking "da dpt baby tak dia" especially uthman aka iki, best friend aufa tu.

now, we keep the hamsters cage away from the centre of attraction.not beside the TV anymore. we put it safe and sound at the kitchen, below the rack. not only they will have more comfy time together, there are no mess on the TV cabinet that no need to be sweep everyday.

p/s :do you know..pantang ni tak boleh baca buku lama2..nanti rabun! (yg i belajar dulu masa nak jadi optometris, after bersalin cornea have transient changes that alter the refractive error power ..leads to more myopic or hyperopic which only last around 2 months.nasib baik la zaman dulu2 takde internet..kalau tak mesti pantang pun tak boleh surf internet kot eh?huuu..syukur!

not bad

this is first time for me of having confinement away from mom`s supervision. ooh, not fully i mean. mama did came over for 2 weeks., and my grandmom came 1 week earlier. mama went home last wek already so it`s been a week plus now. facing the rest of confinement days independently. not bad, after all. i did have someone who came to help out with sweeping (which is a no no to any berpantang lady), mopping etc house chores which of those mama reminds me many times not to do. ops! i`d actually termenyapu twice! cant resist, having a hubby whom happened to be someone who loves to see things in organize and tidy. and me myself whom grown-up by Abah`s rule as well. so..not to blame anyone for my foot-ache. the helper also comments that i walk more than i rest.nasib baik rumah ni kecik aje. once a while when she did`nt turn up, my routine is as usual : preparing breakfast, laundry, bathing Mumtaz & Aufa, folding the clothes, cooking for lunch. of course i did bertungku twice a day, which mama told DH to get it done early in the morning before he left to work and right after he reaches home. i like bertungku ..why? aside from the heat, that`s only perfect time where i get for myself- rest and later sometimes doze off :).ooh, and i like nursing Mumtaz too.also time for time-off as well. looking after the baby is fine, no problems..her day is sleep, feed, boop, wee, cry, sleep, feed, boop. piece of cake!

the difficulties rise up only when i have to attend to Aufa`s too. you should know how a 4 year old mischievious acts..? kejap2 nak pegi rmh Ah Chet la...nak suruh ambik toys kat ats wardrobe la, nak ajk teman main barbie.com, main mak2 la etc. baby besar ni.banyak la songeh nye, ye dak? but eehh!!, she helps me a lot too.she knows what are the things i need when the baby need a diaper change, she will get them all for me : diaper, drapolene cream, latex mattress, wet cotton ball. and she can lay out the items when i want to bath Mumtaz too.everything done include pelita chimney utk tuam baby pun dah ready, plus she can matched mitten & booties with the selected shirt.cuma tak digincu jek lagi mumtaz tu dibuatnye. bedakkan & sapukan myk semua tip-top. oooh, she loves her sister more than her doll. but there was once in a while during night hours, when the baby cries loudly..she will say " aufa rasa tak suka la baby ni, dia bising mlm2" or when i couldn`t attend to her needs coz i was nursing the baby, she will grumpily say she don`t like mumtaz then too.jeles..

tido ajer..

thank you mama

abir? he`s a big brother now. care no more to those simple2 things, or else if he does..his dad surely get to his nerves for sure. ank sulung la katakan! banyak kena dgn mak ayah.DH says. macam my brother, ancho pun. but, amazingly.. sesiapa jadi eldest ni is awesome. tak dpt dibandingkan uniknya. i admit that. our abir too. although abir at first was quite reluctant to go to other school than Adni, he could take it bravely. i even not happy that we had to register him to a normal school. he got thru the new situation well.we didn`t register him to Adni since we are pretty sure to move to K Kinabalu in February. later when i got this transfer.. i asked DH then whether to get him back to Adni. but somehow we thought he is meant to be schooling in normal school. we see it positively.even we ourslves wanted him so much to go to Adni in the first hand. who knows that i finally could get the transfer?its like a magic and dream came true. if i knew it, he is definitely there in Adni. so, i believe there`s blessing behind everything. so, we decided to keep him in the school, insya Allah he`ll be just fine. now, he even like his present school rather than Adni. when i asked him why? the answer is simply "ada kantin besar, padang besar, pakai kasut putih mcm org besar"

senyumla sikt abi nye.......
bread and peanut butter, cereal..quickly breakfast eh

finally..lets pray for the best of everything..especially Palestine people.

Cat & Fox

these kids are really good at role-play, i tell you.they even play ayah mak sometimes.abir definitely ayah, his dad style of course.aufa?mix style of ummi, mummy and wan.wait when their cousins come over..the family is bigger.sampai ada yg jadi atok.of course atok hussin style too.hehe

New port

Syukur, alhamdulillah...no words could perfectly describes the moment we knew the result yesterday afternoon. After 3 attempts in a year, i was transferred to Hosp. Ampang for good..InsyaAllah. Actually, i don`t need to report duty this early, as i am still in maternity leave till 22nd feb.however, got this hint from a senior a day before. so early in the morning, we went to the ministry anyway for duty report as my study leave has ended on dec 31st, we went with moderate expectation but full of strength to face the verdict, whether i stay in Hosp Queen Elizabeth or be transferred to any peninsular hosp. I came up with 3 strong points for not going back to K Kinabalu. Alhamdulillah, they buy the ideas. a worth 4 hours of waiting at the lobby. mumtaz was the centre of attractions by then. everyone who came accross would stop and asked how young is the baby? even a bangla cleaner noted with " kenapa datang sini?" Well, almost at 3pm the officer approached, saying it was a complicated decision, that she had to call up few important person that includes my Head of Service. Huhu..everyone knows she don`t like meddling with this. anyway, felt quite miserable though when i rang her that very afternoon to say thank you, and she end up by deliberately mentioned on this and that of my past transfer, study leave etc while i was in JB few years ago. I was only nodding rather than explaining or defending. Tak kisah la..janji dah dapat tukar sini..
So, folks...we will be a KLian for quite some time, till Hosp Manjung create new post.hehe, nak buat hal lagi la tu..

Thanks to my beloved family especially mama, she never losts hope on this. We love you.

PUTRAJAYA: The world community should boycott the US currency and American-made products to pressure the United States to stop supporting Israel’s attacks on Palestine, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said while governments might be “scared stiff” to support the move, the people could play their part to “save Palestine”.
“The people have the capacity to act. For instance, they don’t have to drink Coca Cola and the government can’t force them to drink it.
“If we need to buy weapons, we can always buy them from Russia instead of the US.
“The boycott will have to be a universal effort. If confined to Malaysia alone, it is not going to be effective but Malaysians must also play their part.
“We must not allow ourselves to be cowed. Even if we do little things, I think we can achieve quite a lot,” he told a press conference on the developments in the Middle East.
Dr Mahathir, who is chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Foundation to Criminalise War, acknowledged that there would be a price to pay if countries stop trading with the world’s major trading nation.
“If we want to do something good, then there will be a price to pay. I think if you whittle down involvement with the US, slowly we will get used to it,” he said.
Dr Mahathir noted that the best and quickest solution to the Palestine issue was for the US to stop supporting Israel’s atrocities. Britain should also be blamed for their “supportive role,” he said.
He said Malaysia’s effort to convene a special United Nations general assembly should be supported, adding that it should seek a resolution to call for Israel’s pullout of Gaza.
“There are opinions that the fight between the Israelis and Palestinians is about religion.
“The crisis is not a religious struggle between Muslims and Jews. It is a fight about territorial issue,” he said.
p/s : JIM has launched boycott for Israel product since years ago..

Membelai

Abang brought over Abir & Aufa to the ward on 1 Muharram 1430, Mumtaz on day 3 of phototherapy.

Abir : Ummi, cuba letak dia kat lantai..boleh jalan tak?Bila dia nak jadi mcm Qaisarah.

Aufa : Aufa rasa dia macam nak cak Aufa lah (cak = term used for breastfeeding)

Neonatal Jaundice

This is not a first time in the family. Both Abir & Aufa were also ex-NNJ babies. Abir scored 18mg/dl, and was diagnosed as Breastmilk jaundice which prolonged till 26days. Aufa however escaped the phototherapy instead as her SB level was below 12mg/dl.

Mumtaz was admitted for NNJ last Saturday eventually. Her Serum Bilirubin (SB) level was striking high : 20 mg/dl (= 340umol/l) of which the Paediatrician disallowed our idea of having a home phototherapy. Moreover, she was positive for the ABO incompatibility, means it is not a physiological jaundice. 6 days warded : it was not so stressful i would say. The room permitted baby rooming in with mom, and phototherapy was conducted in the room itself. Mumtaz was also cooperating so well with the treatment. only wakes up for milk and diaper change, would also few minutes of relaxing at nighthours. somehow, there were event of frustrations when there were up and downs of her SB level. The torture was merely of having the thoughts on the two kids left at home. Thanks God, Wan (my GrandMom) and Kak Cho + Houris were there for them. We appreciate your help so much.

Nevertheless, after 6 days..we asked for AOR discharge from ward this afternoon, as the SB level was at 13.3 mg/dl now. The Paed grants us the decision providing we continue the home phototherapy and come back to see him on Tuesday. Lega sangat, at last can go home..see the kids again. Seronok sakan Aufa! Mama was so glad too, tak sabar dia nak jaga cucu baru...

So, here we are...doing Mumtaz home phototherapy. For those of you out there whom in case need the service, hop on to http://www.bluelite.com.my/ Overall, the cost for this service is only RM445 for a 3 day package. Our 6 days stay at the hospital was at 6x than the home phototherapy cost. Aside the cost, the most important is..it is more convenient for you and the baby. But, it is only permissible for a SB level below 15. And, it depends on the Paeds you were seeing.

Ya Rabbul Izzah, do free our Mumtaz from Jaundice and may she is in the best of health.Amiin.

Enjoy some photos here..

day 2 warded, gaya meniarap

gaya telentang la pulak..

Abang & kakak datang tgk Mumtaz..
