Salam 1st Ramadhan everyone..
Bet today is a welcoming day for 1st day fasting, hardly see the sun.Alhamdulillah, Abir is still fasting. at times, tersasul juga nak makan biskut!
This is a late post on KL09, a paralympic games participated from 10 ASEAN countries. it took place last week. As I`m already elected one of Malaysia`s national Classifier since last Paralympiad games, this year I got 2 days of unrecorded leave for classifying the athletes visual impairment status. All athletes whom low vision or blind will be categorized to 4 classes that are B1, B2, B3 and B4. that is from totally not seing any light (B1) to be able to see any numbers on the SOSH chart (B3) accordingly. Those whose classes B4 would be disqualified for taking part in the games. And, to tell you this is the most difficult decision to make, as the athlete and coach will definitley get very upset and will come up with a protest form. Hey, I got an isolated case though last week where I classified an athlete as B2, whereas another classifier thought he would be a B3.
So, last Sunday we went to Stadium Putra - with abah and mama too... showing our moral support for Malaysia team in swimming event. as usual, small crowd audience there! mama said, next time she would bring support team from WI manjung! look at the leg..
mumtaz finding her teether..
i would love to share this good news with you...
1) i took up a quiz about cataract operation preferences during conjoint ophthalmology symposium held last month in sheraton subang, without putting any hope to win. to my surprise, on one fine day, a young man knocked on the door holding a thick book at his side. "mem, you `ve won the contest" "wow!! bestnye. ." was what my colleague exclaimed on that very afternoon. it is a very precious book indeed : clinical ophthalmology , an asian persepectives worth RM360 sponsored by Alcon company. i`m one of other 10 whom are very lucky, since there were 300 participants that day. now what, i must find time to read. owh!!this reminds me of the other 3 new books that i bought 2 months ago -of which i haven`t read them till today ; planning a baby, when your baby cries and just two more bites. huuuh..i need to read ..read..
2) i won 3rd prize in successful working breastfeeding mommies, staff category during Minggu Penyusuan Ibu Sedunia peringkat hospital. my points achieved for this prize : 37 months of total breastfeeding and 26 months of supplying EBM for Aufa (no formula milk at all). the champion breasfed her babies up to 5 years old!uiks! marvellous. but anyway, you mustn`t have believe me about the prizes. a big hamper of unnutritional food, sponsored by BESTA! they add in all kind of junk foods there. hmm..i will be more appreaciate if they gave us fenugreek or milk maid tea or even better, another medela breast pump! well, doesn`t matter anyway. i `m now one of the hospital lactation support group okay..!, thats actually is more to motivate myself. alhamdulillah, i`ve been supplying lil mumtaz with EBM without fail. she`s is 8 months now, means i must keep on expressing at work for another 16 months, insya Allah. by the way, Ramadhan is a challenging for working breastfeeding mommies. i `ll be taking fenugreek supplement to boost up milk during fasting.

Lastly, may this coming Ramadhan will be a month of ibadah for everyboday.have your Ramadhan checklist ready. DH and me will be combo-ing tadarus Quran as usual.
Have a nice day..
i`m posting this entry from home on friday morning
the reason is because i`m off duty for alternate days since wednesday, taking turns with DH.
why?our dear Aufa is having shingles on her neck.
Shingles is a skin rash caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. This virus is called the Varicella zoster virus (VZV) . After an individual has chickenpox, this virus lives in the nervous system and is never fully cleared from the body. Under certain circumstances, such as emotional stress, immune deficiency or with cancer, the virus reactivates and causes shingles.
well, to know more on shingles, click here. it is a very rare condition in children actually. at first we thought it was only eczema, trated her with steroid cream. later we noticed it got worsen, and thought she caught chicken pox from her cousins, ironically the pox do not have fluid-like blister, it started with red base just like an insect bites and transformed to dry rashes. so when we first took her to see Dr Wati, a peaditrician -she diagnosed shingles right away at the moment she saw the blisters mark, plus the history i gave on Aufa exposure to chicken pox. she said, there are 2 posibilities :
1) Aufa must have caught chicken pox before, of which i can`t remember when.she only had measles when she was about 1 years old.
or ..
2) Aufa had a chicken pox vaccination before, of which i can`t trace the record either, her past vaccination card was left in one of the boxes in Teluk Intan`s house. but, as far i can recalled she only have pneumoccocal vaccination on top of the compulsary immunization by the health ministry. i`m only sure that Abir got it, since his kindy made it compulsary last time.
anyway, she is been on antiviral ie acyclovir sy and cream medications 5x daily.and seems recovering very well. everyday, she keeps on asking us to send her to school. she really missed her friends already.
